The place to be for those curious about the news

FIJC

A meeting place for journalists and citizens

The International Journalism Festival of Carleton-Sur-Mer, organized once a year in May, is the first of its kind in Canada. It is a public forum organized for journalists and the public to communicate, discuss and reflect on a variety of topics and issues. It brings together journalists, teachers, university department heads, media specialists and the general public. It is set in the Baie-des-Chaleurs, in Gaspésie, a location that captures small town aesthetics and coastline charm.

Our objectives

The FIJC is a non-profit organization, apolitical and independant, created for the general public. Our aim is to take a closer look at the information landscape, while also speaking to the professionals who put pen to paper, so to speak, and deliver our news. The festival incorporates every form of expression, artistic or otherwise, with conferences, debates, art galleries, theatre, and film. It is a unique opportunity for citizens to get involved in the conversation around information, and make their voices heard.
