Bertin Leblanc

General Manager

Originally from New Richmond in Gaspésie, Bertin Leblanc began his career in 1985 at the daily newspaper Le Soleil de Québec, contributed to the launch of Télévision Quatre-Saisons and subsequently spent most of his career abroad, for television channels such as Radio Canada/CBC, France 24, CNBC, and TV5Monde, sometimes in Brussels, Paris and Washington DC. He then joined the Quebec diplomatic service as First Advisor for Cultural Affairs at the General Delegation of Quebec in Paris. After that, he headed communications for Amnesty International before becoming Communications Advisor and Spokesperson for the Secretary General of La Francophonie, then Editor-in-Chief at Reporters Without Borders (RSF). Today, Director of Communications for the French NGO Ensemble contre la peine de mort (ECPM), he is also the author of graphic novels for the publishing house La Boîte à Bulles and Director General of the FIJC.

Alain Bernie

Technical Coordinator, Programming Advisor

For Alain Bernier , the FIJC is the convergence point of his academic and professional background and his personal commitments. First, his first career was as a theatre manager and stage technician. At the same time, his studies focused on journalism. His master's thesis specifically analyzes information emanating from Quebec networks and dealing with the regions, particularly the Gaspé Peninsula. He then worked for Télé-Québec, as coordinator for the Gaspé Peninsula and the Magdalen Islands. He also chaired the board of directors that developed and built a major project for Carleton-sur-Mer and the cultural community, the Quai des arts. It is in this emblematic and unifying place that the Festival takes place.

Geneviève Bouffard

Coordinator

Geneviève Bouffard is a self-employed worker in project management and event organization. Circus artist, geographer, her atypical profile is put at the service of companies and organizations to help them implement projects that promote the development of the territory.

Content intern

 Luc Leblanc is pursuing a degree in political science and creative writing at UBC. He is interested in Canadian current affairs, journalism, and politics related to global warming.

Robert Nadeau

Robert Nadeau, Chairman of the Board of Directors

Originally from Paspébiac in Gaspésie, Robert Nadeau has established during his years in various management positions at Radio and Television of Radio-Canada, his leadership qualities in management, strategic planning, production, and programming of multiplatform content, marketing communications and public relations.


In January 2020, he founded Coyote audio, a podcast creation and production agency, with a partner.


Passionate about the world of media and communications and driven by the desire to develop and propel the projects under his responsibility into the future, Robert Nadeau thrives on teamwork, creation, action, and the search for innovative solutions.


First director of ICI Radio-Canada Première, he helped lead public radio to reach new audience records and launch a new offering of podcast and digital audio content. Previously director of Quebec regional stations, he led the digital transformation and notably managed the relocation of the Rimouski and Matane stations and the launch of the Téléjournal Est du Québec. He is also associated with the creation of RDI - Le Réseau de l'information de Radio-Canada, first as Head of Information Communications and then Director of Programming.


Robert Nadeau sat on the board of directors of the International Commission of Public Francophone Television and chaired the Radio Programs Commission of Public Francophone Media.


He is a member of the Forces AVENIR jury, which aims to recognize student commitment.

Sandra McNeil

Sandra McNeil, Vice President

Sandra McNeil has been the general manager of CIEU-FM for six years. This social economy enterprise is the most listened to radio station in Baie-des-Chaleurs and has had the mission for nearly 40 years to inform, entertain and serve the population of the southern Gaspé Peninsula. Sandra McNeil has always been involved as a volunteer in various organizations.


She is currently president of the Gaspésie and Magdalen Islands Social Economy Hub and vice-president of the Association of Community Radios of Quebec, which brings together 37 radio stations across the province.

A graduate in Media Arts and Technologies, with a focus on print media, she worked in this profession before returning to the region in the early 2000s. Sandra McNeil then worked in communications for regional organizations in Gaspésie and the Magdalen Islands.


In particular, she was part of the teams that set up the first promotional campaigns for the region to encourage people to come and settle there.

Johanne Fournier

Johanne Fournier

Johanne Fournier has been a correspondent in Eastern Quebec for the daily newspaper Le Soleil for about ten years. At the same time, she collaborates with various media outlets as a journalist and press photographer, including the newspapers Pêche Impact, La Terre de chez nous and Graffici. She is also a journalist-trainer for the Centre québécois d'éducation aux médias et à l'information, for which she leads workshops entitled # 30 secondes avant d'y croire.


She is the president of the Est-du-Québec section of the Fédération professionnelle des journalistes du Québec and is a member of the Association des journalistes indépendants du Québec. Johanne Fournier entered the world of communications in 1986. In her early twenties, she co-founded the newspaper Le Riverain in Haute-Gaspésie, for which she was a journalist and editor. In the early 1990s, she completed two journalism internships abroad, in Martinique and Africa.


She then turned to radio, where she held positions as a host, researcher, producer, journalist and desk chief for several radio stations, including CHRC and Radio-Canada. She holds a bachelor's degree in communications with a specialization in journalism from Université Laval and a certificate in political science from Université du Québec à Montréal.

Blaise Gagnon

Blaise Gagnon

Blaise Gagnon has more than thirty-five years of experience in communications and broadcasting.


He worked at Radio-Canada for nearly 15 years, as a commentator-interviewer, journalist, host, researcher, and writer of radio and television texts and reports. From 1997 to 1999, he also worked as a researcher at Télé-Québec and in 2004-2005, he was a member of the Télé-Québec Mandate Review Committee (Bédard Committee).


He was a lecturer at the Cégep de Sept-Îles and at the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi (Centre de Sept-Îles).


He was also a manager of a cultural NPO: ten years as general and artistic director of the Corporation de la Salle de spectacle de Sept-Îles, then in the same management positions at the Festival international des arts de la marionnette in Saguenay and at the Théâtre Palace Arvida.


Today, back at his Alma mater, he teaches media communication techniques in journalism and radio at Cégep de Jonquière.


He is also responsible for departmental coordination at the Higher School of Art and Media Technology.

Chu Anh Pham

Chu Anh Pham

A proud child of Bill 101, Chu Anh learned French by listening to Passe-Partout while her parents fled the Vietnam War by boat. Her love of the language led her to become a journalist, after studying Media Arts and Technology at Cégep de Jonquière and Political Science and Economics at Concordia University. She worked for almost 20 years in several major newsrooms, including Radio-Canada, TVA, Argent and La Presse in Montreal, mainly as an economic reporter. She was also the anchor at TVA 22h on weekends. Outside of journalism, she worked for a few years as a communications advisor for two unions and a public relations agency. Her most rewarding experience remains an internship in international cooperation in Burkina Faso in her early twenties. Today, she is the mother of four children.

Melanie Marin

Melanie Marin

Mélanie Marin has a background in international trade and business administration.


She has worked in inclusive and sustainable economic development for EVOL Gaspésie-Iles-de-la-Madeleine since 2008. Involved as a volunteer in her community for several years, she is a proud ambassador for her adopted region.


Passionate about communications, project management and sound governance, she wants to put her positive leadership to good use for our organization.

François Bujold

François Bujold

Passionate about culture, current events, Quebec and its regions, François Bujold has held the position of Director General of the MRC de Bonaventure since 2020. Having completed studies in the fields of regional development, communication (human relations) and music, he first worked to promote the emergence of entrepreneurial culture among young people. Subsequently, he worked as an economic, social and rural development agent, as well as a business advisor.


Since the age of 14, he has been involved in numerous boards of directors of cultural and social organizations. For 12 years, he was also a municipal councilor in the City of New Richmond, thus confirming his commitment to his region.


In his personal life, he continues his artistic development through singing, acting, and writing, seeking to enrich his skills and develop his creativity.
